While the media focus was on the two opposing protests across the street, a third group formed, and the mood was completely different here. All the messages were positive, and people were actually talking, sharing stories, interacting, debating ideals. VERY different than the other two. Notice almost zero police presence.
The downside to that was that in the afternoon, some agitators started yelling that it was “about to go down!” within the crowd, and people scattered to avoid any potential violence. Efforts to incite within the other two groups were quickly muted by the show of law enforcement officers. But some still stuck around, and the dialogue continued. I made some friends today. Later on, I’m hoping to interview a doctor who voluntarily treats the homeless on his own time and dime. I met his wife in one of the discussions. I met a lot of people who understand that “cooler heads will prevail.”
