Honestly, in hindsight, had I learned more about Andy Warhol when I was younger, I believe that he would have had greater influence in my adult life, professionally speaking. I spent too much time trying to figure out on my own what I wanted to be, rather than taking the time and patience to learn from others.
I was, and am still, fascinated by the possibilities the world has to offer. I knew that photography was my thing, but that’s not a career, it’s an entire world of possibilities in itself. I think Warhol best connects to who I am as a creative individual and how to express and market myself through craft. I have often loosely referred to his style by name, usually bringing to mind his visual use of pop and splash of color. I even have a Facebook Album of his namesake for some of my own work. But I never really paid much attention to the person or his story, outside of pop culture references.
Of course, my life experiences would have taken me in different directions, and my work would n’t look anything like his, but John Lennon was inspired by Chuck Barry and look at how that turned out?
