An Army veteran who was attacked and beaten during the violent protests that gripped the city of Charlotte in September is now speaking out about what happened.
Wrong is Wrong
This is an outrage. This is just as wrong as the violence being protested that evening in Charlotte. It breaks my heart to see my own people give in to rage and frustration, to become the savages the rest of America expects us to be. If we expect violence against Blacks to end, we have to show what that looks like. Every time something like this happens, it will be unfairly tied to #BlackLivesMatter. Just like Baltimore and Furgeson. Critics won’t care about truth, as long as the thugs on tv are Black, we are all going to be blamed. No matter how much they play down any violence by Whites on Blacks, the very reason why protests erupted in the first place. I wholly consider this a hate crime, and nothing less. This is as unacceptable as if it were the races were reversed. I am embarrassed and disappointed that this even happened to another American citizen, regardless of race, regardless of religion, regardless of gender, regardless of reason.
Stop The Violence
That’s why we need a movement. We need people to organize and stand up against violence and injustice, to stop senseless bullshit like this from happening in our country. If America would start working WITH BLM, instead of trying to tear it down, then we can ALL make a better difference sooner. But as long as the many continue to sabotage the efforts of the few, the violence will continue.
