A wee bit over-the-top, but proof that WB Animation knows how to do comibook movies better than the DCEU (or whatever it’s called now). I’ve been pretty impressed by most of the animated releases across the DC lineup. Gotham By Gaslight, The Red Hood, even other brand titles like the Red Son of Krypton (the Russian twist), etc. were all beautifully put together by teams who love their jobs as much as the brands they’re working on.
So, someone explain to me why the Animated Killing Joke was so pedestrian in comparison? Inferior animation and well, that whole absurd prologue. The source material was such an arthouse piece, and the story was the darkest, arguably the most dangerous of the Dark Knight lore, and the animated version was subpar to weekly mass-produced series and even more PG.
