Children of Immigrant Detainees vs American Prisoners?

The difference is that immigrants are supposed to be temporarily (not indefinitely) detained, processed and deported back to their country of origin. So why not keep those families together, as we have traditionally done so? When an American is arrested for a crime, any accompanying minor is immediately released to family or to cps. They do not get processed along with the parent, they do not get incarcerated into a detention center like their parent. For the most part (i have issues with cps and foster care, that’s for another post), we do not treat our children like caged animals. And our kids get to visit us in jail, rather than serving in “separate-but-equal” detention centers.

Which brings up a good point. The US has THE highest civil incarceration rate of any 1st and 2nd world governments. Even higher than communist regimes like China and North Korea. What bugs me more than this being used to justify detaining immigrant children in cages, is that red-blooded, flag-waving American citizens are okay with this systemic form of tyranny over their fellow citizens.

Tucker Carlson isn’t speaking truth. He is merely maligning facts to make the disturbing narrative more palatable.

This is not what we do to protect democracy. This is what we do to covet privileged greed.
