i’d like to see a Mission Impossible: Dimitri. A graphic novel style throwback sequel. Directed by Zack Snyder or Sam Raimi. A younger Ethan Hunt getting his stripes in the fallout of the Cold War as cccp double agent Dimitri playing both sides to uncover a secret threat more dangerous than anyone realizes, and at great sacrifice, disobeys direct orders, saves the lives of innocent Russians while running out of time to save the rest of the world. All for a promise.

High speed off-road crash-n-bang chase with Humvees. With turrets spitting metal rain at eachother. A hard and ugly bar brawl as the enemy tries to flee in the chaos. Instead of pairing him with a damsel, cross him with an older, smarter seasoned MI6 agent who thinks Dimitri is the evil kgb villian in her movie plot, but plays along in order to get to whatever’s really going on. Sprinkle in at least three different fights. And plenty of cheeky 80s spy banter. The “climb” sequence would along a half-built abandoned and crumbling hydroelectric dam, with plenty of debris and falling goons with guns. And except with the slip of one easter egg, the name Ethan Hunt is never mentioned in the movie.
