The trade wars and bad blood with the White House isn’t going to help Harley-Davidson, a popular brand that is still somehow struggling in the 21st Century. The one bright side is their approach to ebikes. I think there are a lot of image issues to overcome from an ardently loyal fanbase. The newer bikes won’t sound like the original thumpers, but that is expected. That’s kinda like complaining that a Raptor jet doesn’t have the distinct thump of a Mustang fighter. But in that vein, I think that the scream of the LiveWire will be as unique to electric motorcycles at the potato-potato thump is to their V2s. It is a challenge to establish whatever the new “classic” is going to be, in an emerging market. I love tech, but ebikes are too elegant and efficient, generally speaking. If I get one, I really want the LiveWire. For the same reason past generations wanted a Harley thumper over other bikes.
