I think its blown out of point, which oddly enough, proves her point.
She is right, empirical facts do not exist in today’s climate. The only facts the liberals want to talk about, are the facts that support their beliefs. The same goes for the conservatives. Arbitrary facts don’t exist. We treat public discourse as if it were a rap battle, each point is either a chest-thumping self-praise or a generalized diss. Each side will lay claim to winning any round, no matter how lame they were.
I am a Liberal Democrat who knew what she meant. Liberals have exclusively focused on despising Trump, and distracted from some serious issues on our side of the fence. We feel obligated to blindly support Obama no matter what. No matter what includes DAPL, the fracking boom, extrajudicial drone killings, #BlackLivesMatter, Flint, gun violence, Wall Street, the foreclosure crisis. After all, he has given some stirring speeches about these touchy subject, but where is the leadership he promised? “Its complicated” is no excuse for lack of leadership. Fellow Democrats should be up in arms that President Obama has not simply denied the pipeline, simply citing the federal treaties honoring indigenous sovereignty. There is no other argument needed, unless it’s that a contract with the federal government isn’t worth the paper it was printed on. One more out of many times the United States of America has lied to these tribes. That’s how the Native American cases win whenever the Supreme Court has to make a ruling. It is their job to ensure that the govt acts in good faith, and in line with the Constitution.
I’m not completely kosher with the point that she’s trying to make with her argument. It really does sound like “facts are whatever you want them to be.” However, if we are going to be so obsessed with facts, we should at least consider the ones we may not agree with.

“There’s no such thing, unfortunately, anymore of facts. And so Mr. Trump’s tweet amongst a certain crowd, a large — a large part of the population, are truth. When he says that millions of people illegally voted, he has some — in his — amongst him and his supporters, and people believe they have facts to back that up. Those that do not like Mr. Trump, they say that those are lies, and there’s no facts to back it up.”
