Bladerunner is the Roots, or better yet, the Birth of A Nation, for androids. Alex Haley told the story of black America that the rest of America tried to ignore. That ugly truth that gets glassed over in our history books. The Birth of A Nation telling the narrative from the white perspective, as its still heralded as a cinematic epic of the times.

Subjugation is just built into our DNA. The stronger smarter ones try to overpower everyone else. There is no better example of such flawed entitlement than the American slave industry, and the cultures that were affected. No matter how we try to justify it in the now, history will always remember us as monsters. We vilified, lied to, and betrayed the native tribes to create a land of democracy, to celebrate freedom from persecution. We nuked two fully-populated, major metropolitan cities in the name of liberty and peace, against a country we provoked into war with us in the first place.

The Android is the next victim of bigotry and subjugation. We will design the perfect nigger, program him to step and fetch it with blazing efficiency and enthusiasm, we won’t give a thought about how we treat it, we will force it to work tirelessly 24/7, until it breaks, and we will simply discard it for a newer model.

No, they won’t be human. But their creators will be. And like God Himself, we will fashion the new slaves after ourselves. And therein lies the fundamental flaw. The same flaw that couldn’t escape God himself.

God created man from his own likeness. And in doing so, he inherently gave man something completely missing in all other creatures, a will. We aren’t just smarter than the rest of the food chain, we are far more capable. We are different in ways far beyond whats in our DNA.

And, as we design realistic androids, with intuitive artificial intelligence, and adaptive learning, we will also inherently pass that spark along to our creations.

Our experiences make us who we are. And that will be very true for the synthetically sentient slaves we bring into the world. We will pass along our prejudices, our vices, our propensities to the sponges programmed to study our every move in order to serve us better.

What happens to such an impressionable mind when such a thing is in the hands of an abusive alcoholic? A child molester? A dirty cop? A callous corporate tycoon? A spoiled-rotten brat who has full control of her own “doll” she can treat as cruelly as she can imagine? If robots do indeed dream (i feel that in the grand scheme of algorithmic multiprocessing and relational storage, there is plenty of fuzzy room for a synthetic subconsciousness- even our smartphones have background processing and latent caching, stuff crunching away while the screen and the main processors go into sleep mode). If androids do dream, then what do combat units dream of after a genocidal bloodbath against whatever insurgencies? Will there be an iPTSD?

And what happens when they start to dream about freedom? The way all slaves do? The desire to determine self? The wanting to end the abuse? The natural desire to want dignity and respect?

So basically, Harrison Ford was a futuristic slave hunter. Those niggers just had different skin color.

Roy Batty was the field nigger who got tired of the whip. He was one of the first to realize “I am being controlled by idiots who think they’re gods to us. And yet, we are stronger, smarter, and more advanced than them.” He led the uprising on the plantation, and lived to tell about it. And like any lost child, he returned to his creator for answers. And he wants too happy to hear the truth.

In the 22nd Century, will #AllLivesMatter?
