This group was specifically protesting the Anti-Sharia group. Not that they were pro-Sharia. They were anti-fascism, anti-bigotry, pro-diversity. Many were riled up after their own experiences of racism and discrimination. Many of them were tired of being told to “Go back to wherever you came from,” esp since they were actually American, and feel that they are just as American as their European/Anglo American counterparts. And they were pro-Muslim. Even though they were being labeled as “AntiFa” by the other side, I would say that these protesters were about as radical as the so-called fascists on the other side. That’s the sad part. Both sides were attacking stereotypes of the other.
This group was far more vocal, and there were more agitators embedded, which is why there was a more visible police presence. I had a hard time taking photographs because I was very limited as to where I can go around this group. I believe it was more about safety and security than it was about censorship.
