Long before the controversy over obscenities, I’ve been talking about the forgotten parts of this country. The parts that “mainstream” America has forgotten about and could care less for. They suffered under both Democrats and Republicans. They suffered under Clintons and Obamas, they suffered under Reagans and Bushes. Much of these people voted for Trump. Not because they’re racist, but because they were tired of being lied to by politician after politician after politician.
What is really grinding my gears right now is that the ONLY reason we’re paying them any attention now, is to throw shade on the President. We are having another tantrum over another tantrum of the other side, and neither side is going to do anything for the people that we’re talking about.
So we’re finally acknowledging that there are shitholes in America. Fine. What are WE going to do about it?
Empathy and Compassion
Black America, Latino America, we should know what it’s like to live in places like this, because systemic oppression and social marginalization as disproportionately put our people in places like these, and tried to keep us there. But this country has done the very same thing to White America, too. While this happens to some demographics more than others, it still happens to all demographics across this country.
Let’s give up this petty war of politics and roll up our sleeves. Let us ALL work together to Make America Great Again, for ALL Americans. Especially the ones in long-neglected shitholes around the country.
Tomorrow, in the spirit of Dr King’s Dream, I will march for them. All of them, regardless of color. He would have. In fact, he did. The President isn’t going to do anything more for them than he did for us. Just like the last President, and the President before him. Let’s work to keep the Dream alive for everybody, especially for those who felt that such a dream never applied to them.
